MACDONALD, FITZGERALD & MACDONALD, P.C

Q. I was injured while driving my own vehicle in the course of my employment. What are my options?

A. Notify your auto insurance carrier and fill out an application for no fault benefits. Notify your employer and claim workers’ compensation. If you miss work, you may be entitled to weekly wage loss benefits from workers’ compensation and excess benefits from the auto insurance. Workers’ compensation should pay your medical bill, attendant care and retraining expenses. If you require assistance with various tasks, the auto carrier should pay for replacement services. If your injuries are severe enough, you may also have a claim against the parties responsible for causing the accident. Social Security Disability may also be an option. There are a number of benefits available, so certainly seek the advice of an attorney.
