WHO PAYS WORKERS' COMPENSATION BENEFITS?

Under the Workers' Compensation Disability Act, all covered employers  must have workers' compensation insurance.  Employers--typically quite large, employers-- who are financially secure may get the permission of the Workers Compensation Agency to become self-insured so long as they can prove to the Agency that they will be able to pay any foreseeable workers' comp benefits. There are unfortunately some companies that have been given permission to go without insurance that don’t deserve it. Delphi is still self-insured even though it filed for bankruptcy.  In such a situation, you should call us to try to protect your rights.
